2nd Year + Housing

say or go on-campus or off-campus housing

Deciding where to live after your first year at Arizona can be a big deal. Whether you're looking for academic support, amenities, convenience, value, or just want your own space, we have options for 2nd Year+ and Transfer Wildcats - including single rooms and rooms with full-size beds. We're excited to offer great housing options for 2nd year & above students in 2024-25:

The following are housing options for upper-division students (however students can choose to live in any dorm). Space is limited; access to these housing options is based on availability and is subject to change.

Hopi

Our smallest dorm is even cozier with single rooms featuring full-sized (double) beds in the Highland District, reserved just for returning students. Hopi is great for those looking to live within a strong, smaller community.

Honors Village

The Honors Village continues to enhance the honors experience on campus. Honors Wildcats can return to live in an Honors Village apartment or a single-suite (based on availability). See the "Honors Room Selection Process & Timeline" section below.

Pima

Located in the heart of campus, Pima's Lodge building is an ideal dorm for returning Wildcats! Pima Lodge offers suite-style dorm rooms. Pima consists of two physical buildings, Pima Lodge and Pima House. Note: Rooms in Pima House are reserved for a Living Learning Community, so the only rooms you will see in Room Selection will be the rooms in Pima Lodge.

Eligibility

Interest in living on campus has dramatically increased over the past two years, well beyond our current housing capacity. Research shows that there are significant academic benefits of living in campus housing for first-year students. Knowing this, we need to try to accommodate as many incoming freshmen each year as possible. Until we can build additional housing, however, we have to do our best to balance the interests of incoming freshmen and current UArizona students. Our goal is to have about 1,300 current/returning students living in the dorms next year (about 18% of our capacity).

The housing application for current UArizona students will be available from January 1-31, 2024. This does not guarantee housing for the 2024-2025 academic year, just the participation in the lottery. Current students who apply after this time will be placed on the waiting list.

Once the application closes, we will use a lottery to determine which current student applicants will be eligible to live with us in 2024-2025 and complete their housing application. Those not selected from the lottery will be placed on the waiting list (along with any current students who apply after January 31).

Students who are selected from the lottery and are eligible to complete their housing application will be randomly assigned a date/time in February when Room Selection will be available to them (this allows us to manage the capacity of the housing portal system and to ensure everyone choosing a room can do so easily and quickly). Returning students will have access to select their room before new UArizona students are invited to participate in Room Selection in mid-May.

Those selected in the lottery must complete the following steps by March 1 to confirm on-campus housing for 2024-25:

  • Choose a room or be admitted to a Living-Learning Community
  • Complete the License Agreement (housing contract)
  • Pay/complete the non-refundable $175 housing application processing fee and $400 Rent Down Payment (the Rent Down Payment is applied to fall 2024 campus housing rent)

If, due to later cancellations, the number of current UArizona student housing applicants drops lower than 1,000, we will offer available space to current UArizona students on the waiting list.

January 1, 2024, 12:00 a.m. (Arizona time) Housing Applications are available for residents who are interested in returning to live on campus next year.
January 31, 2024, 11:59 p.m. (Arizona time) The Housing application for returners will close and all future inquiries will go to a waitlist.
February 1-2, 2024 Housing will conduct a lottery from those who have applied, determining who will be offered a bed in on-campus housing for next year; emails will be sent to all applicants either with the next step for those selected in the lottery, or an explanation of the waiting list for those who were not.
February 5-7, 2024 Eligible applicants with approved accommodations through the Disability Resource Center in rooms with physical accommodations can choose their current room for the following year.
February 8-March 1, 2024 Room Selection available. Eligible students will be randomly assigned a date and time when room selection will be available to them. We anticipate that all eligible students will have access to room selection by February 19. Once you have selected your room, Room Selection will continue to be available to you until July 1 (in the event you later wish to change your room assignment).
March 1, 2024 Deadline for all active current student applicants to either choose a room or be admitted to a Living Learning Community; deadline to complete License Agreement, $175 non-refundable housing application fee, and $400 Rent Down Payment.

  • Selecting a roommate is optional.
  • If you have a roommate (or multiple roommates), you must use the roommate tools in My UAHome to submit and confirm roommate requests.
  • To ensure that both you and your requested roommate(s) are paired up together in the lottery, you must complete and confirm a roommate request by January 31.
  • For everyone who is in a confirmed roommate group by January 31, all members of each roommate group will be given the same lottery number. This way, if one of you is eligible to continue with the application, the others will be, too.
  • You will need to finalize and confirm all roommate requests before you are able to choose a room.

  • Eligible Honors students will be able to choose Honors Village apartments or single-suites.
  • Honors students can change to a dorm room in the Honors Village after July 1, if available.
  • Honors students will not be able to ‘pull in’ a non-honors roommate with them into the Honors Village.
  • Non-honors students currently living in the Honors Village will not be eligible to return to the Honors Village next year.

For returning students interested in living in a Living Learning Community (LLC), the LLC application will be available starting January 1. You must first complete your Housing Application and then you will be able to complete the LLC application. Students accepted into the LLC by campus partners by January 31 will be prioritized within the Housing Lottery.

Note: If you are accepted into your LLC and make it through the Housing Lottery, you will not be able to cancel your LLC interest without also canceling your housing application.

Late Cancellation Fees

Schedule and cancellation penalty amounts will be outlined here soon.

Application process information, deadline dates, and offerings are subject to change at the discretion of Housing & Residential Life. Housing & Residential Life reserves the right to backfill rooms in any community.
